A few weeks ago, we created a data viz that looked at what counties in the country had the oldest populations. We did this to look at what communities may be most effected by COVID-19. That graphic was recognized as one of Tableau Public’s Viz of the Day visualizations.
After creating that visualization, we decided to remix it by looking at what counties in the United States had the highest percentage of children. You can use this data viz to see what counties have the highest percentages of children under 5 and under 18.
The data for this visualization was gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau’s API. The data is provided from 2018 American Community Survey 5-year estimates. After I scraped the data from the API using Spyder, I then used Tableau Public to create this visualization. You can find more visualizations about age throughout our website.
